So we went back down to the front desk and asked for a “real” non-smoking room and after being told there weren’t any and my wife said, “we’ll wait”, all of a sudden, magically there was a room. I smoked for 30 years so am not particularly sensitive to the smell but this was more like a cigar lounge. We were given a room on the 5th floor and when we opened the door the smoke smell was overwhelming and probably the worse I’d ever experienced and after having traveled in 42 countries I have a little bit of experience. Hotels need to be no smoking, period! We usually stay in Hilton properties which are all no smoking so rarely run into a problem where the previous residents smoked in the room.
